LEONARDTOWN, MD (July 18, 2022) – Factors such as being overweight or obese at the beginning of pregnancy greatly increase the risk of gestational diabetes. The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) is issuing this request for proposals (RFP) to promote long term, continuous healthy behaviors and safe physical activity for pregnant and postpartum women. SMCHD will offer three mini-grants to three businesses, nonprofits, faith-based, or other community-based organizations. The awardees will be required to implement in-person or virtual physical activity groups for pregnant and postpartum women and provide services from August 12, 2022 to September 30, 2022.
